Aleksandra Tomaszewska
She was a student of prof. Andrzej Zubek (Poland) and prof. Edward Anthony Partyka (Austria). She graduated from the Academy of Music in Katowice and received her Master's Honors Degree of Jazz Composition and Arrangement in 2007. Aleksandra participated in composer's competitions of the Gil Evans Fellowship (Kansas City 2007) and in Brussels Jazz Orchestra Composition Contest (Belgium 2009). She received the 1’st prize at Komeda Jazz Festival in Słupsk (Poland) and won the Special Prize from Radio Gdańsk (Poland 2010). In January 2011 Aleksandra performed with her Quintet at Radio Cracov. During this New Year's Concert she got the scholarship from "My Polish Heart" Foundation and Special Prize-invitation to recordings with NDR BIG BAND At the turn of May and June 2011 Aleksandra got the recording contract with NDR Big Band in Hamburg. Aleksandra's Quintet performed during Summer Jazz Festival in Cracow from 2007 till 2011. Afterwards she created the International Nonet Ensamble. Her Nonet ensamble was invited to perform at Berlin Jazz Fest (5.11.2011). Currently Aleksandra is a lecturer of Jazz Harmony, Improvisation, Composition and Arrangement at Music Academy in Gdańsk (Poland). She has also conducted Academic Big Band. Academic ensemble perform original compositions of Aleksandra Tomaszewska.
